Thanks for the comments, I'm one happy chappy seeing these changes in Garston.
What struck me also was the buzz around the new village apartment developments opposite Woolton Carpets, people coming and going, young couples etc....
Lets hope that the area alongside (The Baths and Public Toilets) now get suitable developments, I can see that happening too.
Within a stones throw away there's the Mersey Retail Park, the Old Matchworks developments, PC World, The Interchange, a main route into Town, David Lloyd Gym, Garston Park.......
:)
I was under the bridge last weekend Kev and was pleasantly surprised at the new developments facing the gas tank. The last time I was down there was a few years ago for the 'Up the shore' and 'Devil's Gallop' race from the old Bankfield House. I'm sure they'll need a new pub with the Blackburne Arms, the Victoria and Kitty Mac's now no more, I suppose the one on King St can expect some more custom in the future. Great pics.

Hi all Garstonians,
This is my first time on the forum,i left Garston in 1962 aged 16 i lived under the bridge first in Thomas st where as a young lad we used to make a few bob waiting at the dock gates and taking the sailors and luggage up the village to the Mariners pub witch had a bit of a reputation for the ladies of the night, and there was alway some enterprising kids knocking on the door selling bananas witch were in abundance because of the banana boats,i then moved to Chesterton st the protestant side of Window lane my memories are of playing football on Top park and long days spent down the shore where me and my mates had our own ocean going liner to play on it was called the Eleoner better than a playstation that the kids have today i managed to get back to Garston last year and take some photos before it all goes i think in a few years time it will be the place to be. By the way my schhools where Banks rd and Gilmour Heath rd also a few memories of Bankhall it was hard to get in the club in the 50s i remember having to go and see the vicar in Horrocks avenue to see if me and a mate could go along i could go on. :) John Davis
