And they were all Bents Pubs. I drank in the Coronation in the 60s
after playing football for Joseph Lucas whose ground was behind the Corrie, now another housing estate.

Noticed these while going past them.
The Stanley Park aka The blue house.
Front door bricked up, whole building rendered/painted - possibly for another use.
The Bayhorse - Grinfield St. Scaffolding up around it. Demolition or renovation?
The Village Inn at Stockbridge Village... I don't know the original name:

Hi everyone...First Post ! Wasnt that pub called The Tithebarn originally ? And The Albany known as "The Little House" ??
Great first post. I do remember a Tithebarn, that's possibly it. There was also the Thatcher where we played but I think it's gone now. It looks like the pub sign is on the high rise blocks.
The Alt Park Hotel, Northway, Maghull.
Nice photo Lindy. It used to be quite a lively pub that. Been a while since I been in there though.
The Justice was situated on the corner of Dale Street and Hatton Garden and named after the nearby courts. Since its demolition a car park has existed on that corner.

I love the pubs and the atmosphere ... Such pretty architecture too.. Ta for sharing them..
My dad drank in The Coronation between 1964 and 1979. Me and my dad played bowls for the Coronation in the early 70s. Sorry to see it closed. It was always a friendly pub until around 1975 when a certain family moved into the area and things took a down turn. Within a few years, lots of the old regulars moved off to The Cat's Whiskers which was always a very well run pub, the Fiveways or The Bridge Inn. Saturday nights in the bar were always good. An old fashioned 'sing-song' and people playing darts and dominoes.
Because of this family who, along with their associates, brought nothing but trouble to the pub, me and the old feller gave the place a miss.
I once heard it was built in the 1930s just in time for the coronation of 1937, hence the name, although the pub sign had George V painted on it. It was supposed to have been one of those large 'road house' type pubs of the period, but in 'A Pub on Every Corner' it says it was built in the 1950s. I would say it had more of the 1930s look to the place. A bit more Art Deco than the 1950s but someone must know. As for Belle Vale, until the late 60s it was a prefab estate with no reputation for trouble. That only happened when the new buildings went up in the 70s.

Good pics again GD. :D
> Looks like the Childwall Fiveways is on course to re-open any day now. That's if it hasn't already re-opened in the last week or so. The Fiveways is now part of the J.D Wetherspoon chain, as is the Merton in Bootle.
Two Walton pubs:
The Prince Arthur & The Breeze.
Ah the Prince Arthur.
The Liverpool Branch of the British Motorcycle Riders Club met in there for a while, long since disbanded I'm talking 1980's of course.
When working till 9pm, I used to have to get the bus along Walton Road/ County Road. Anyhow whilst on the bus, you could see into these pubs from on top of the bus. These pubs were virtually empty midweek. I mean, maybe 1 or 2 people in the bars. I used to think how do these pubs manage to survive. It must not be very cost effective. No wonder so many local pubs are shutting down.

Nice one Joe.
Sad to see such nice pubs going by the wayside.. They are lovely architecturally, I wish I could restore one.. That Shipperies.. would make a nice looking home too... Any new pubs abut?
The Merebank is open again which is good.
As for new pubs naked lilac, plenty open up and change names but all in the city centre and mainly around Concert Square, clubby types. The old local on the corner type pub is fast becoming a thing of the past as more and more become empty or change use.
The pubs that have closed in Birkenhead beggars belief.
I think so. Not had a pint in there for an age.
From the Blazing Stump to the Golden Pagoda. That was Bibby Line's route from the West Float to Rangoon, Burma. My old buddy here was a purser with them, and can't shut up about it.:)
Nice one Samsette.
All the pubs in our area are still open, with the exception of the Cygnet which appears to have closed. Perhaps we're all just drinkers here in the Swan ('cept me of course).
The "Brookhouse by me,closed down recently! The manageress said she had to make £5,000 per month, for rent etc, before she could make anything for herself! She had to buy her drink from the landlord(Punch taverns,I think) even though it was available for less, from other suppliers. Seems like these pub companies are just being greedy!! The pub has opened up again, but the place wasn't too busy, when I went, and it reminded me of the "Cygnet",as I knew the guy who was put in there, as a relief manager, but with no great commitment expected to keep the place going,so as posted by Burkhilly,it didn't!
