No quite a street name but an interesting warning sign on Brodie Avenue, Garston
This is supposed to be Hicks Road (Seaforth).

now here's an unusual one.
at first it makes no sense. a road sign with Bootle on in Netherton with a number 10.
however Netherton was once known as Bootle 10...my hubby lived there for several years.

I first saw this over 8 years ago and had forgotten all about it until I went past it today. I personally can't recall seeing any others with the full post code on.

You do find them, don't you, qg? :PDT_Aliboronz_11:
I think I might have an answer for the postcode.
What building does it belong to?
I'd say a building which receives a lot of post.
Perhaps a Government department?
Or a mail order firm?
I suspect the 'XX' is only used for a particular reason, and this one is more for the benefit of the postmen than the public.
Then again, I could be completely wrong! LOL!
the original version of Tithe Barn St...not sure when it was merged into 1 word

Love this thread...such interesting names etc., When I was a child we first lived in Towson Street, then when the house was bombed we moved to live with my grandparents in Alderville Road. Then when my dad came out of the Navy and became a policeman we lived in Dawber Street. Near there was Ogden's tobacco factory and Barker and Dobson sweet factory which I think was on Boundary Lane. My dad then became a Prison Officer at Walton Prison and we went to live with my grandma at 49 Frampton Road. Then my dad was beaten up by a prisoner, ended up in Walton Hospital fighting for his life. When he eventually recovered he wasn't allowed to go back to a top security prison, so we moved again...this time to the open prison at Sudbury in Derbyshire. I was nearly 14 then, and we never lived in Liverpool again after that. I do visit when I can, but not as often as I'd like, that's why I love forums like this were I can still see some of the old places and be reminded of the great city that I still feel is my home.
Thanks to all of you who post photos and start interesting threads like this one.

One day the people of this forum will have taken photos of each single stone of Liverpool. From 3 different sights/views. :)
If Carling made stones, they'd be the best stones....[gruff voice] in the wooooorld!
More "Stones" of Liverpool.
What, no streetsign?
It's off West Derby Road, in front of the Casino.

It's for all the Americans-it will dispense GREENbacks lol. A touch above the usual signs-very posh! lol.
