Saw your photos above with rather mixed feelings; 'Salt House Tapas' – when did this happen? Is this really what used to be Church House?
With regard to the Nook(ie), I remember it in the old days when Mrs Jones was landlady... It was festooned with memorabilia relating to its historical seafaring links, global maps of the old shipping routes, full of great characters, dragons and lions, some of them of the human variety…
I was a bit shocked when I visited recently – it had been tarted up something rotten, with few signs of its great heritage – I assumed it had been taken over by some faceless conglomerate; imagine my further shock when I discovered it was now owned by the New Capital Chinese Restaurant next door!
