24 hours to go back in time

Hi All

Since I grew up on Aigburth Hall Avenue in Mossley Hill I was fascinated in my early years by the remnants of the monk's granary down near Aigburth Road, said to date from 1292. I took the following photograph when I was in Liverpool in May -- look at the well-worn sandstone steps. I would love to have been there during medieval times when the monks worked there.

I would only go back to yesterday which I spent in our two cathedrals takng
pics, then into the Central pub for a nice cold pint of lager before catching
the train home to be greeted by my missus with a nice meal of curried chicken and prawns. Then I had a relaxing bath then a couple of glasses of
wine while I watched England trying to play football,so you see my needs are simple. At my age every day is a bonus.
I`m always puzzled by the term `The good old days` we had no shoes on our feet, there was poverty everywhere,T B was rife.no give me today anytime

And long may your bonus's last Joe. ;)

My better half says she would like to go back to 1940 and experience the Blitz:eek::eek::eek: Crazy girl :)

I would go back to the year i moved here 1997. My dad was carrying in some furniture which got caught on an outside step, he fell onto a pile of rose thorns we had just cut down and passed out. We all thought he was messing and walked past. He had knocked himself out and split his chin open. I had to go to hospital with him to get 3 stitches. It sounds horrible but it was sooooo funny. We still laugh about it.

My mother said there was celebration bonfires everywhere as they ripped out the bunks from the air-raid shelters and threw them on, as they would not be used any more. My mother went to a Chinese in Nelson St and didn't like it.

I would go back to any day when the buildings that Chambre Hardman photographed existed.

Scotland Road archetecture wise Is pretty soulless now and the houses look the same and too modern.

The evil councils of now and the 70's have taken away from good buildings. Some due to the wars too though which couldn't be helped.

Hardman's street scene shots are brill.

It might be nice to from social perspective. however I recall the very end of those, and they were not that nice at all. Most are best gone forever. The people living in them were delighted to get out.

I would like to go back to when my gt gt grandad landed in Bond Street from Ireland and have a good talk with him and tell him of the people who came after him and the places they landed in, being Australia, America and all over the u.k. I would tell him how the courts finally went and newer slums went the same way, and even the poor are a weany bit richer in my day.:hug:

this was reality, this is what people survived( our people ) and im proud of them. we should never forget where our ancestors came from. we can only read about these houses, to see them would stop us moaning about our own living.

What replaced the courts were infinitely superior - at any time. In the courts, and in general, there was social respect and discipline, moreso than after the courts. That was despite the courts not because of them.

The last court went in the early 1960s.
