Another section of old Liverpool is being excavated at the very start of Princes Dock. Just cut down the narrow footpath at the left-side of the Crowne Plaza hotel. Looks like a very deep dock-wall and cobbled area.

Artist's impression of what the new Flotilla floating homes will look like at Princes Dock
LUXURY floating homes on Princes Dock are one step closer to fruition now a planning consultation period has begun.
If given the go-ahead, 12 flotilla detached homes will be “anchored” in the dock in the first marina-style development of its kind in the UK.

Hmmmm, It might make Princess dock nicer for a photo.
Horrible.
It's with good reason the rest of the UK has not allowed anything like this.
The council should have the courage to insist on real boats, not floating boxes made out of ticky-tacky and they all look just the same.
Colourless homes owned or rented by wealthy absentee "residents" - what could be worse?
Now if they allowed live-aboard narrowboats or historic vessels and allowed old salts to run little artsy or chandlers businesses from them as part of the deal, now that would be adding value and interest to the area.
The West-side of Princes Dock had been filled recently. I don't know if it's to do with the canal link.
It is to do with them making money from dumping building materials. The docks are so shallow only canal boats can sail through them. The Manxman Trust wanted the renovated Manxman to be berthed in Princes Dock - a dock right in the city centre. An ideal location for renovated Battle of the Atlantic ship HMS Wimbrel too. But only fit for canal barges now. What a disgrace for deep water Liverpool!!! The greed merchants got heir way, allowed to by a stupid and naive city council. The tall ships could be berthed at Princes, Waterloo and Princess Half-Tide Docks. Alas, many have to be berthed at Birkenhead Docks.
Once again, what a disgrace!!!
