Gerard, any of Rupert Hill ?
Gerard, any of Rupert Hill ?
I dont know Mart..the records office should have plenty you know..
when I've finished a few things I'm up to I intend becoming very familiar in there..
I've had a few email requests for photos.. I'll get what Rupert Hill ones I can as well..
A 'photo requests' album is something I've been thinking of adding to my site for a while now..
Thanks Gerard, there must be hundreds of requests, I don't know where you find the time to do it all, good luck anyway !
Off down the records office Marty with my new toy..
I'll post some later... hopefully.
Edited...
Just been turned away Marty..
I need to make an appointment..
Got the full talk too though...
about showing photos on my website..
and needing to contact the owners 1st before doing so..
I queried this as I was led to believe the LRO owned the photos..
Something I never actually believed... and, have questioned.
I'm well aware the LRO dont own certain photos...they just look after them.
and I've just had that confirmed...
I mentioned you Ged, that I do a similar thing to what you do..
I thought it would get me in on the spot... it never worked..
I've made an appointment Marty...
hopefully I'll be allowed to get the photos I'm after..
.
Hi Ged
what new toy ?.
Yes the LRO don't own the copyright for all the pic,s they hold.
I send them many photo,s to hold and have to fill in a form
to allow them to hold them and if they are a gift or not. I do
have authority to show pic,s they hold copyright for, as long as
I state they are copyright LRO.
Steve
They do own quite a lot themselves though. If I remenber the city engineers used to publish books of photos. I bought some loose leafs of them years ago in Kensington market.for threepence each.
Ihave seen some framed in the Stanley Heritage market.
Hiya Steve..
Yes, I know that Steve..
but I've read "Oh just credit the LRO" and it will be OK..
or words to that effect...
I've said thats not right, the LRO dont own the photos..
and I've been told I'm wrong, I'm not wrong..
and I've just had that confirmed..
I always credit the LRO or whoever on my website..
I think I've about 5 or 6 images on my website from the LRO..
I've not shown others because I know they dont belong to the LRO....
My new toy... ?
Its a portable little scanner thing...
A tiny thing you carry around.. scans images and documents up to A4.
The records office this morning told me I cant scan images with it..
Having this scanner Steve means I can scan peoples images at their home..
to show on my website...some people are understandably reluctant in parting
with their old family photos..
with this scanner I don't have to take their photos off them..
its all done in front of them...in their living room..
These pics below were scanned on it..
they belong to an old friend of mine..
Maria lets me scan her photos in my house...
Maria will only let me do her photos...
because I copyright mark them for her..
she insisted on the large copyright mark on the images below..
An old school report..

The city engineers collection, some 20,000 pic,s, was available
on a CD for £8, but it is no longer in stock

Thanks Ged, the reason I think LRO won't let you scan
the images is two fold, 1 damage, 2 don't they charge ?.
Handy little toy, how about a pic of it ?
see ya
Steve
They used to allow you to scan them Gerard as although I never did, my mate Mike Murphy did, he got loads of the LRO dock road ones I show on the 'Down by the docks' page. I never knew they didn't allow that anymore or i'd have mentioned it to you the other day when you posted you had the portable scanner.
The LRO hold pics belonging to the likes of Stewart Bale and Chambre Hardman, his in turn are owned by the National Trust. However, all the ones I show are LRO owned or have been individually checked before and I have made sure I have written correspondence with the head archivist and LRO Manager in case of any come backs. I rest assured that in my case they know what i'm doing with them, whether showing them on my site or emailing ex pats as they ask me when I go 'how's tricks, what requests have you had this week' they rib me even over 'when's the next book' etc. You have to fill out the appropriate copyright form on each visit too. Staff have even been on my site when i'm there and they've wanted to discuss the whereabouts of something.
For books, it's a different criteria again as they request so many copies for their libraries stock.
Just keep those fine pics coming lads. Especially if you got any of Norris Green.:PDT11
