scottie road re-union

This was just after the Lord Mayor was led in by a lone piper to open proceedings. I remarked to him how it must be a great year to be Lord Mayor with all what's going on. So far he's met the Queen, Lord Grosvenor, Ark Royal captain, Paul McCartney and now the 'Gardens'. :)

He showed great interest in the Gerard Gardens resident listings from the 1970s and the history of the area including Debz 'little Italy' boards. What you can't see is Debz hand twisting his arm up his back ;)

I have only slightly more hair than you now Zapps. my vitamin deficiency has meant a course of medicated shampoo and a close to wood haircut today. doesn't bother me though as I once had most of my hair cut off for charity.

thanks for that, i am meeting with David Charters on Friday.
i met Paul Podesta today and what a history he has of his family.
since i started the research this year wherever and whoever i have iterviewed i have been made so welcome by them all, kinda makes me think of how the little italy community must have been

Will the book tell the story of other communities who lived side by side with the Italians in Little Italy? I love the old religious festival photos of the Italians marching with the Irish. My lot lived in Little Italy and the only sign of an Italian name is me with Tony :)
