Here is the interior from the stage just after the disastrous fire in 1986.
Note how the steel girders have softened with the heat and fallen down.
This is the first time I've ever shown one of these photos and it has to be this way.
is that the same place as the Pivvy Bingo Hall is now?
The same location. However the current bingo hall is no doubt practically a different building,as Philip's pix show that the fire virtually destroyed the original building.
Dave.
Neptune Theatre was open today. Filming 'Nowhere Boy'. I couldn't see much, though.
Filming in a disused theatre has usually resulted in the demolition of the theatre.
There was Vincent Price in "Theatre of Blood", and Cliff Richard in "Summer Holiday".
Just two off the top of my head.
With the Neptune being part of a larger building, hopefully it will remain.

Hi Guys...
I noticed the Shakespeare Theatre, Fraser Street was mentioned earlier in this thread. Does anyone know any more information regarding it? I am tracing the history of the building for my Fire Brigade history interests - as you all may well know, the building was sadly badly damaged by fire in March 1976.
What I am confused about is, it changed names on a number of occasions; originally the Shakespeare, then the Pigalle? then the New Shakespeare Club I think.
I was told it turned into a `Adult Cinema` but Pete Price tells us that the place went up in smoke the next morning after the last ever show there?
Any help much appreciated.
Andy
Andy, some pics of the aftermath of the fire on my site below and more in the Liverpool records office. We went over there during it and next day, as you do as 14 year olds.
