That's so very British. I like it, but the houses are so very small. Maybe 3 metres wide, not more, and 2 stories. Do there live families with 2 children for instance?

which street is this malwood, elswick ? I used to work on many of those houses in those streets, and along grafton street which runs across the bottom, bread was filmed in these streets, I actually worked for the creator of bread and the liver birds ( carla Lane ) on her house in London, love this pic, brings back memories of walking up to mill street to get chips or bacon butties for our dinner
Atany, these houses are very old, known as 2 up, 2 down, as in the number of rooms. When built in fact, families were much larger so it would be more common for 6 or more people to be housed in them. Elswick Street was the 'Bread' Street (sitcom), my father-in-law was born in Grafton st then moved to one of these streets, Netherby but has been in the Flower Streets, Kirkdale now for 40 odd years.
Atany, not many miles South of here, some of the houses are as big or bigger then 3 or 4 of these put together.
one thing i remember about all the houses in these streets i worked on was that when replacing the front door frames the brickwork was a good 1 and a half inches out of plumb heading towards the mersey and the frames just looked wrong if you put them in plumb so you would have to purposley put them in wonky......... oh yeah and while your having a cup of tea and its quiet you can hear the trains rattling like hell directly underneath you.

Anglican Cathedral Reflection
Another very interesting perspective :handclap:
Excellent picture and just proves the fantastic vision you have to see this beauty in that unusual way. Keep up the great work.
Thanx for the explanation!
In my town there live the people also alone in a flats now, which were once built for a big family. But these houses are really very small. I hope there don't need to live families with many kids. But apart from that, these houses are very nice, very British. Also the street lamp. Maybe a tree wouldn't be bad. Are there gardens at the rear?
No Atany, there are no gardens at the rear but small yards.
I grew up in a house no bigger than that and my grandparents had eight children in them and me also in the end.
It wasn,t even cosy as the cold got in through the door gaps and window gaps. No central heating and no hot water in those days. :PDT_Aliboronz_11:
Those little palaces of the working class who built Liverpool have a yard so tiny the outside toilet could be reached by a big step on a cold winters night if the need arose and you didn't want to poison the others crammed into each tiny bedroom.
I was born into a house this size and lived there with my Grandmother, Mum and Dad, one older brother and four older sisters. All in two tiny bedrooms.
My cot was the bottom drawer of the dressing table as there wasn't floor space to sit a cot down.
My good wife often remarks "I wish they had shut that drawer when you were in it" at times when I'm getting on her nerves.
Gerry,
what a sad story! I hope you have a better house now!
That's not very kind of your wife. :)
We have a grand house now and we even have a toilet inside.
When we get is connected to the electricity I'll be able to do away with this old turf powered laptop.:PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Photo taken appropriately in Church St Liverpool. Sadly the Church, St Peter's , has long since been demolished.
i'm not surprised spouting all this rubbish, is there a merseyside god ? what happend to rest of the beautiful world god created? , or have i just read the sign wrong? it's a big statement to keep preaching the word by ! i'm not a god botherer but it's not really from or for today i feel
St Peter's became the Pro cathedral for Liverpool and demolished around 1920when the new Liverpool cathedral was in a usable state.
It's the Merseyside School of Evangelism in the outer circle, then "God Loves You" inside this.
Not sure if there is a Merseyside god, perhaps each of the three football teams. Then there's Max's references to the "god-like" zoom on his camera !!

In Germany the people use English words if they want to be hip. Or if they're making any flag or poster. But but the hell, do the English if they want to be hip?
