Picture of The Day September 2011

Thanks! Leon and Les! Great pics! Guess my old job is gone forever!!!! I used to park my old 1948 Standard 8 in that carpark when at work. The hospital building was in need of modernisation, but pity the 'Josaphine House' part was destroyed! Clatterbridge Hosp was also doing Cancer research, Les, and the Radio Isotope Bank was there! one of my jobs was to convey radio-active material to and from there to the Institute. research was fairly basic in those days, and included the University Endocrine Labs, (Glandular research), and the Institute carried out Radio-Therapy treatments on various cancers. Hospital also included a number of large houses both in Hope Street and Rodney Street. Often wonder what happend to those beautiful houses!!!

My mother worked briefly,in that building,but gave it up when a "bag" she was disposing of,burst open to reveal what she thought,were bloodied human bit's!? Would that have been a possibility?:shock:

Quite possible wsteve55, Radio active implants were inserted in certain cancers, and some 'small' leisions could have been removed, these were disposed of in the incinerator at the rear of the hospital building, and this incinerator had to be 'checked out' for radio activity occasionally.

I put mine on on the actual day...the 18th.. not an hour before..

Can this be put right in future..?

I have to disagree Kev. You are entirely wrong in what you say. :(

The thread is named..."Picture OF the day."

NOT
Picture FOR today.

I would prefer that what was amassed were a selection of pictures of Liverpool and the region OF a particular day.

Not holiday snaps from way-back-when that someone has at long last up-loaded or has nothing else to share.

There ARE plenty of opportunities to up-load pictures of this and that and for this and that BUT this series of pictures, I feel, would be best used to illustrate a particular day in life of the City, it's environs and it's people.

[No apology necessary...I know I am right. :)]

Maybe it would be a sensible solution to have a mini poll on this issue,,,with the majority option implemented.....it would save having any future misunderstandings.....over to you kev !

Thanks Kev for clearing that up....although a mini poll of members wouldnt be a bad idea ,,,a forum should not be afraid to evolve and change as per the wishes of its members.....i have not yet formed an opinion on the dispute in question but would be happy to do so if it benefited this community.

Well we can't have 3 all dated 18th September and the pic should only be posted for the 18th on the 18th, not the 17th in advance. I also think it should be a pic taken on or around that day, given the time it takes to get home, download it from your camera and upload to the forum etc. As they are all good photos and I don't want to remove any of them, can I suggest I re-date them as i've done. It will mean of course we're ahead of schedule in a time machine. If there's any objection to this by the posters who put them up, i'll go back and date them as they were and we'll have to think of something else, just trying to resolve it for all but please see my first sentence to avoid further issues.

Feels like some big egos getting in the way of letting us see how many talented photographers there are out there. Unless there is a danger of running out of space (and there isn't) then the more photos the better in my humble opinion.

Ok so we reluctantly have to accept that Gerard has removed his post meaning that Georgie T's 2 that he put up both dated 18th Sept have now been re-dated 18th and 19th and Franks is now 20th so we're fully used up for the 1 pic per day Kev's rules permit. As it's pic of the day not pics of the day with plenty of other threads to show multiple pics, can we now please run from Wednesday 21st just for the sake of good order.

Yes, I agree that there should only be one picture per day. There are plenty of other threads if you want to post more. The whole idea of this particular thread is 'Picture of the day' ( singular) .... but usually no one gets pulled up over the odd extra one here and there within reason (genuine mistakes etc). Sometimes newbies who don't know the routine might post in the wrong place, and that's fair enough, no one would make an issue of that.
But really it's meant to be pic of the day :nod: :)

Not sure about how current they need to be because there have been many times when I've posted pics just to literally fill the gaps during quiet periods. Sometimes we can get a lull when there are no posters - sometimes for days on end - so at least posting something will keep the thread ticking over - - again within reason, ie, maybe we don't want really old pictures rehashed, but pictures which are fairly recent.

I can't see the problem with posting oldish pics.

My photo on that day Linda was the legit one.. posted at 15 minutes past midnight..
to clear the confusion and tidy things up.. I've deleted the photo.. which I should not have had to do.
