Hi Mark, feel free to use any or all of the photo's. I've got a better camera now so if you want any more or if you'd like to take some yourself, I can take you in no problem. Let me know.

DINKY TOYS ref. 28 L - Crawford's delivery van made by Meccano Ltd. in Binns Road Liverpool 1934 - 1940.

DINKY TOYS ref. 115 U.B. taxi made by Meccano Ltd. in Binns Road Liverpool in 1979.
Although it was illustrated in the Dinky catalogue n° 14 of 1978, this model was not distributed by Meccano. It could be obtained from United Biscuits ex Crawfords against four token wrappers from their new "Taxi" biscuits and a small amount of money. It was provided in a plain white box. Note the wheels fitted the wrong way around.
What were U.B. "Taxi" biscuits ? Any archives on this subject ?

Nice one Dinky. There's a thread about Meccanno/Dinky somewhere. My mum worked there..:handclap:

I didn't Ged. They're from a Management Services (as we were called then) pamphlet showing the buildings that would be affected by plans to demolish parts of the site.
Superb pics, just how I remember it.

Was he married at the time this pic was taken and if so do know his wifes name?
I'm not sure of his wife's name, it might have been Julie or Jane. What was the wife's name of The John Roberts you knew as it might jog my memory. They eventually moved to the new (at the time) estate off Walton Hall Avenue between the bridge and Walton Hall Park. His dad's name was Niv and he worked in the sorting office in Copperas Hill if that's any help.
Tis ok,seems the JR I know was living down south in mid 80's. :)
Hi - new to the forum and was wondering whether anybody could help with one of the initial posts on this thread?
Centre Screen Productions are producing an exhibition for the Museum of Liverpool about the Crawfords biscuit factory.
We would like to use an image from this thread: http://www.yoliverpool.com/forum/sho...rds-Binns-Road (3rd image down). Looks like the person who posted is no longer a member and i'd like to make contact. Alternatively, any information on where the picture was taken from or who the photograph belongs to would be great.
Please contact me at the Centre Screen office on 0161 832 7151 or email laura@centrescreen.co.uk with any information.
Many thanks, Laura
MarkA does say that the pictures hang along a wall in United Biscuits where he was working at the time, post#3.
Great pictures. Glad this thread has popped back up.
