Here's that Wellingtons' column drinking fountain from June 2004...I guess the restoration was recent.
I like that last one especially mate - well in.
This is what we used to call that mound of stones and grass seemingly dumped at the side of the Walker Art Gallery, up Mill Lane. As kids we'd dare each other to go down there, aware that we could awaken the giant. Someone told me the other day that this was probably a myth of sorts, but I took this with the zoom on, just in case...anyone know what it really is please?

just looked at my 1906 map and Clayton Street ran right the way along the back then, so could be rubble from demolished or even bombed buildings. However there is also a small sq structure? marked at the side of the art gallery, but map doesn't state what it is.
took a macro pic will upload it for you to have a shufty.

I took this to remind me of the 'ravine' we used to jump across as kids - from the rooftop to the grass on the right. Seemed like the grand canyon when you're 12 - I could do it well easier now :unibrow:

Looking towards my old gaff. Very 1930s art deco this area with the Mersey tunnel entrance buildings, Blackburn Assurance and The Ship & Mitre pub. On the corner of trueman is one of the finest examples of a Georgian Merchant house and so says the blue plaque. The Higsons building lets the place down though - ah well.

The Walker Art gallery was absolutely heaving today. The whole ground floor was just chocker jam packed and it was a great sight to behold, in all the years i've been going there I've never seen it like that - no available tables at the cafe, people buying books and postcards at the desks etc etc - loads of tourists outside taking pics and William Brown st full of coaches and people and not all of them were goths as they were mainly in St. Johns gardens.

the roundabout in front of the tunnel at the bottom of WB St is being removed.
bus was too packed to get a pic today.
looks like the new junction with traffic lights is soon to be a reality. Traffic lights didn't work years ago with less cars so should be interesting to see how it's going to pan out.
anyone heard when the flyover is coming down yet?
The flyover isn't anymore as far as I know and instead is due for a revamp like the rocket one.
The roundabout seems to work ok at the tunnel mouth, vehicles just about make it past that busy junction at rush hour as it is due to the traffic lights at the junction of Byrom st/Hunter st/Gt Crosshall st junction so imagine tail backs due to lights at the tunnel.
got off a stop early going into town this afternoon so I managed these

Great pics on here. William Brown Street has got to be THE jewel in Liverpools crown. Can't think of another City with anything like that. Cept London.
