There are no tunnels in the vaults under RS Clare. I worked there for 12 years and went down to the vaults on a number of occasions and did not see tunnels or evidence of tunnels. There were other buildings on the same site which are now no longer there - maybe the tunnels were there but they are not there in the vaults under the offices!
Oh dear. Now we're snookered.

This company also celebrates its' old age on a banner (if the wind hasn't blown it off yet), and also on a message, painted on the road by the main gates. I guess there are just old vaults beneath this site.
i go down to the vaults nearly every week and never seen any evidence of tunnels
I,m a Clare descendent-never visited the site but hope to. I've tried to contact RS Clare to see if there is any family info/memorabilia but they never reply. I saw a photo of a miniature of Richard Shaw Clare, with an article on the company. does anyone know where it is kept, or who to contact at Clares or in the City to find out more?
Hi.. When I was 7. I had got a friend. His grandma used to tell us magic tales. One of them about Tunnel in Liverpool and Pirate's misery ship. Then she died and my firend's family moved away, don't know where. But I think it is not tale. She used to say, true tale, there is a tunnel with slaves. But really I had not beleived.
