Liverpool Waters

Having looked through the images for this project I am pretty much convinced this will be a huge leap forward for Liverpool. Ofcourse there some finer details to be worked out such as transport but on the whole I am for this project. The one huge concern I have is this rediculous New World Square proposal. This project will be hugely detrimental to our world heritage waterfront and as you can see from some of the images this building will completely obscure the view of our three most important buildings.
I don't know what this obsession is with building right on top of these buildings but it has to stop. I am still hugely sceptical about Mann Island, building new world square has to be stopped. This area should simply be opened up as a public space, Liverpool has acres of land all over the city for people to use without objection.
I did hear recently that there are problems with the finance for this project and to be honest I am happy to hear it! If anyone has any further info on this or a website I can visit please let me know.

A netto would cost less and I might just use that. Im going off the city centre very fast, it bores me to go there now, I would rather go to Huyton or Prescot than look at those horrible buildings.

We hung around there in the 70s - dropping bricks into the Albert dock sludge, larking around South castle st bombdies and the bridge over James st and around Wilberforce house and the bucket fountain. So much better now and tourists everywhere photographing and videoing.

Waterways, I am looking at renders of Liverpool waters on another forum (you know which) and there are trams/trains of some description depicted?

I remember that fountain. Is it still there, or when did it disappear? Looks a lot better than those square slabs with round holes pictured a few days ago...:)

On the LW site they have a picture of a very ugly tram. Yep the multi-nationals will locate from NY in a jiffy looking at that.

If this is finally built, it will be a massive boost to Liverpool.

I hope it falls through. Its horrible. it looks a show. nothing different, other places look like that. We are losing our identity.

No I just like the old buildings. Im not fussed on all this new stuff. Its too tall and I dont think the waterfront will look good with loads of buildings.

We could be, but with Luddites likes you around we never will be :)

We were bigger than Hong Kong at one time handling 40% of the world's trade.

Peel should look into building an artificial island with a causeway to it just off Liverpool Waters and build their Shanghai Tower.

If they had any brains they would widen the West Waterloo Dock river locks, and deepen the dock to allow Cruise liners to dock to start and finish cruises. That would be cheaper than building a new floating landing stage.

Spike it is people like you, and your attitude, that were the decline of Liverpool. People like me had to leave, along with half of the city. Maybe we should all go back and the likes of you leave. :)

You are and and you said it. You said you didn't like it. We got it. You never gave any reasoning why, apart from it being new. I have reservations on two points which I gave: No Merseyrail rapid-transit rail (it will not work without this) and they are filling in water spaces again. I extended on those points as well giving examples of successful similar projects.
