Very unusual!:shock::unibrow:
I took the odd pillar box photo over the years but don,t know where they all are at the mo. I know there is a victorian hole in the wall one on the corner of Kremlin Drive, Queens Drive end:)
Thanks Tony, you,re quicker doing it that way than me finding it in this b***** mess of a room.
I will go round there over the weekend, im off work then :)
Have a look at page 1 of this thread, post no.7 - there is a hole in the wall one on Lower Breck rd.
Chippie you know that one don't you ? :)
Goodness me I do know that one. Brings back some memories does Lower Breck Rd. used to pick the caterpillars off the trees down there when I was in short kecks.
Some delightful souls decided Liverpool could do without this rare pillar box in Wavertree. One firework banger inside shattered it a few years ago.
Has anyone noticed that there are a few pillar boxes around that are missing their Royal initials. I wonder what the reason is for them being 'blank'.
I've got a pic of the Kremlin Drive wall-box on another PC (I'll post it later). I noticed it a couple of months ago when a nearby Petrol Station? had just been demolished (Stoneycroft Crescent)

Now you come to mention it - yes, I've noticed lots of the pillar boxes are now blank.
What's worse, picturing poor Gnomie walking the streets or imagining Chippie 18 months ago in short kecks.
yeah, but have you noticed the latest fashion for postmen wearing shorts? :)
It started just a few years back - and now they are wearing them all the time :)
I saw a postie last week still wearing them even though the summer has ended.
they'll have to give in now tho' the cold mornings are here :unibrow:
Gnomie, are you a fan of this attire ? :) :)
Yes they look like boy scouts or village posties some of em.
Their shorts are so short you can almost see their male bags.
ha,ha.
I saw a guy the other day (not a postman) - he was wearing those knee length pants - grey ones - with black socks pulled half way up the calf and trainers !! Gawd blimey ! what did he look like !!
Given that there is a postal strike at the mo isn't it time to privatise the Post Office
my postie doesn,t wear shorts, her name is Julie and she,s great.
I often think to myself, what a funny name for a postman!!!
Hey Ged, just you wait till I post my photo of me in short kecks!!!
Thanks Marky for that photo of Kremlin Drive postbox, Tony is going mad now as he wanted to post that one.
pistols at dawn!
Pistols at noon d'ya mean, you never see a postie before that now :unibrow:
If you're on about those short shorts again though, it could be piss-tools at dawn.
Our Julie comes well before noon Gedrick, (I can,t help feeding you these one liners mate) and. you,ll be sorry when you see my wee legs :handclap:
What! She comes well before noon?
Is there something you wanna tell us here Chipolata mate?
No Gedrick, there,s nothing funny going on at all. But it is good to get the days post before lunch, not that I have any mind you, with a gut like mine you have to cut something out. :PDT_Aliboronz_24:
I've said this on another thread, but the "Special" postbox at the Albert Dock was originally at Shiel Road.
It was also at the Garden Festival in 1984.
I vote for Chippie in shorts right where the Queen's head is.
(I mean on a postage stamp!).
Dont know if this has been done but looksie here, right hand side of pic >>>>

THANK YOU!
I've been looking for an Edward VIII box to complete my set. Thought there must be one in Liverpool. I think there's less than 20 countrywide.
I always regret not getting a photo of the standard box that was in Wavertree. Vandals dropped fireworks in it...
EDIT...just got further through thread and someone put a photo of it...excellent
Dickens Street,Liverpool 8.

Someone was asking about blue Victorians, here's one I found the other week. It is on the former Primitive Methodist Chapel in Old Park, Telford. Note the next collection!
This is a really great thread, but a question are there any yellow topped Post boxes that have a Sunday collection , or have all Sunday collections stopped?
Here's a cracking George V embellished wall box at the rear entrance to India Buildings in Brunswick Street.
