You are very cruel, haven't you got anything better to do. They are not harming you. And what will you do with the ill-gotten gains! :disgust:

I think he said he wouldn't be contributing any more because of namby pamby tree huggers :PDT_Xtremez_42: I'll try and answer for you Diane - they hunt squirrels and the like because they are easy prey. Put these hunters on the African Plains with a pea shooter and ask them to hunt lions and they'd run a mile...:unibrow:
Will zappa be hunting these little creatures himself or will he be using a flying thing to do it ?
Not all of us Mark. I have hunted all different types of game and if I couldn't get a clean kill, I never took the shot. Not all hunters are cruel blood thirsty types. I've never liked killing much, but sometimes it's more than needed. I find pictures of foxes chained up offensive, and would certainly hunt those responsible.
I understand your point SS, but is that really true? I think you can figure where your tins of "Chappie" came from! I dont think horse racing, etc should be banned, but there should should be more consideration of the animals involved, as living things, not cash generators, and what really galls me is when they try to tell me"they enjoy it" or worse, "they wouldn't exist, otherwise" which is fine by me,but a sad indictment of (some) humanity,if they see every living thing,as being here for our pleasure, only!
I often wonder why people are more concerned about the welfare of animals than they are of people. Every day vulnerable children and adults are abused and all people think about is a stinky old fox, I just don't get it....
Why is it always assumed that people who care for animals care for abused children less
Anyone with an ounce of feeling will have compassion for both - any vulnerable person or creature. Young children and dumb animals cannot speak up for themselves.
Ok I couldn't resist (I am not gonna reply to other "silly" posts)
Ok I will tell you about "The Point of shooting Magpies"...
I used to have Sparrows,Linnets,Skylarks,Pheasants and Partridges nesting and feeding around by my area. Not anymore. This is due to Magpies. The magpies don't have a preditor as they are the preditor. Do you think it will be nice just seeing black and white murderous birds ONLY ? That goes for Grey squirrels too.
Magpies do not kill for food. They kill to be the most common bird around.
Grey Squirrels are a pest. They kill so many trees and also so many birds.
Just like the magpie they destroy nests. Kill chicks and eat eggs.
I have watched the common garden birds dwindle in the past few years and I do know that it is down to Magpies and squirrels (along with a little help from man too)
If I catch a squirrel or magpie it will be fed to a hawk or the squirrel will be cooked with a nice bit of veg:PDT_Piratz_26:
Ok my rant over....again!!
Forgot to add that Some people should stick to A-Z of games!!!
And some people should lern to spel!
P.S. No food,no magpies! Natures way....worked so far, till country bumpkins interfered!
Can we stay on topic, this thread does not relate to spelling in the title...
now now boys, concentrate on the subject matter rather than personal attacks.
Zappa, out of interest do u shoot the magpies etc ? if not, how do they get killed ?
Norris Green = town = know nothing of countryside! Your calculation, not mine!
(spelling...... improved)
So, what about them poor foxes eh ?
So you decide to play God and who gave you that right?
I suggest you leave things to nature because the bottom line is, you are the worse predator of the lot! These poor animals have no defence against you and that is grossly unfair.
One day, as you are aiming your weapon at a magpie, someone could be aiming something at you!
And do you think I believe in GOD ?
If I didn't shoot magpies near my home then all I would see when I look out would be pidgeons, magpies and grey squirrels instead of the woodpeckers, long tail ****,chaffinches, goldfinches, collared doves, hedge sparrows, blackbirds, song thrush and mistle thrush. That is a fact. I have yet to get house sparrows back, linnets, bullfinches and skylarks.
I feed the birds everyday and I have put up many different types of nest boxes. I have and will continue to help "our" garden birds.
My friend is a Dr of Ornithology who looks after red kites. He was on tv last week (The one show). I think he knows more than anyone here and he is in agreement about magpies and squirrels too.
Ok enough from me.
Do your garden birds a favour and get rid of a magpie or squirrel today!!!:PDT11
Diane, not that I'm siding with Zappa but isn't anything us humans do part of natural scheme of things too ?
They always go on about natural order when predators kill animals and we're pretty much top of the tree. if we're torturing things then that's wrong coz it's just doing it for evil fun (like cat's with mice) but if there is a genuine purpose and it's done in a humane way then there's justification for it.
Whether it be Farmers killing foxes or the extreme of Zappa's personal quest to rid the world of magpies. ya gotta admit there's a lot more around now that there used to be and u see less smaller birds
Cruel treatment of anything is totally wrong, justified culling isn't wrong
I have to agree that there seems to be less birds of any variety but I am not going to go out and kill a magpie and I love squirrels and bunnies!
I can see that you really love birds and hate magpies but you don't have to kill them which I think is very wrong.
This seems like a reasonable thing to do as the garden bird population does seem to be in decline compared to the rise in number of the magpies.
As John has demonstrated in the photo's of the beautiful birds he has in his garden his actions seem to be helping with the bird population.
What is it John ?
One for Sorrow, TWO for Joy ? :PDT_Xtremez_42:
I'd never shoot a magpie because I didn't like it. How cruel are some people!
Well dont then, make up your own mind! The magpie population increase, is a result of bad management by the country bumpkins, and insufficient food resources in they're former, natural habitat, hence the move into urban area's! Much the same can be said of the fox population! Also,I've heard it said, somewhere, that we are reckoned to be more sophisticated, and even civilised!?? But that's probably just a rumour! :disgust:
