A lady can't afford to stop for a minute on Nethy Shoney, they might get propositioned for some business.
If I ever see any ladies up that way though, i'll be sure to tell em' ;)

don't believe it all.....I'm a very nice girl honestly :PDT10
Did I tell everyone she's been known to fib too :PDT10
I've never crawled along the kerbs up there since letting out time from the Tugboat.
I now use my car for the sightseeing :PDT10
I remember getting really drunk one night , woke up in the morning in the gutter...................can't even remember climbing onto the roof
I remember being thrown out of the Tugboat onto Netherfield Road, I staggered around the corner and came in what I now believe to be the side entrance where the same barman confronted me so I slurred. 'Do you (hic) own all the friggin' pubs round here (hic)'
Anybody got any info on this pub in Stanhope St ???
Any info appreciated.

Another photo taken yesterday too...

It was The Angel.
Here's a photo I took in 1984.

There was another pub at the bottom of the street called The Coburg but
known to the locals as The Devil`s and one at the top of the street called The Bishop`s. Spent many a time in the Devil`s after fishing trips with my
brother as he kept his boat in the Coburg dock and that was the nearest pub.
We would even go there on saturday nights out,my brother travelling from
Norris Green and me from Kirkby.
Here you go Joe.

It's sad what they've done to The Angel, but I suppose the current owners are pleased with the way they've 'modernised' it.
Anybody know what it's going to be used for?
Philip, that's a cracking photo, thanks for sharing. It really is a shame to see the way pubs finish up, all we can do is be grateful it's not been knocked down.
The Coburg's still open and there were quite a few drinkers there on Wednesday. I took a photo but it's on my other computer - I'll add it tomorrow.
I walked back into town from Arnold Clark on Sefton Street past the Angel and Cains, really enjoyable walk... and the photos are surprisingly good considering there only done on a phone.
On the corner of Binns road and that street mentioned on its wall I think, it's still there isn't it.
The Rose is still there and was open last time I was in that area in November. Its on the corner of Binns Road and Hankinson Street.
One of the lads i know works in The Lion on Moorfields. He had two irish lads in who could barely stand up at the bar and he refused them service. They walked through out through one internal door and in through another (if you know the layout of the Lion from back rooms to the public bar) and when he refused to serve them again, they said we've just been refused next door as well :PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Is this the oldest pub in Liverpool as it says on the wall built in 1726 because
Rigby`s was also built in the same year?
The Rigby's date is contentious. This pub though is the only one with gravity fed pump beer - from upstairs of course.
hi all
Where is rigby's exactly and is there a pic of it anywhere???
thanks

On Dale Street opposite the junction with North John Street, picture here.

The Knowsley Pub, known locally as the Roundhouse or Roundy.
It is on the split of Stanley Road and Commercial Road in Kirkdale. This 1980s pic taken off a deteriorating slide of Joe Devines also shows Tillotsons cardboard box factory being demolished in the background and the old gantries that used to span the Liverpool/Leeds canal.

Hi all
Has anyone a map handy of catherine street area and streets around or pics or anything??? I dont know if there are more than one catherine street-but its the one that comes away from park lane and frederick street etc.
thanks
The city council have ANNOYED me well today.
I wanted to have a nose around town so rather than drive in, I thought I'd get the 79 in to town and have a nose along Wavertree Road rather than watching the traffic.
Now I know that the large snooker hall (mannicks?) had gone and indeed so had the Botanic - they didn't bother me that much, but there was one building which I took a fancy to. Never drank in it, but loved the large sign on the front and it just seemed a lovely little corner boozer.
And today - it's just been knocked down. No warning, no 'get your pictures before it goes' - gone like that. I'm talking about the Bridge Inn.
Is this the council's answer? Pull anything down that is boarded up to make the place look nicer? What'll go there now? Sod all because it's not prime land. So more of the bland wall will go there rather than a boarded up boozer which could have been turned in to a nice little shop.
I've only got a single picture of the pub from when I was in the car and snapped on the way past, anyone got a better one?? :disgust:

The Gibbs Mew sign always intrigued me, what does it mean?

Forever in your debt for that picture lad. Looks even nicer than mine which is a slap in the face especially now that it's empty air :PDT11
Gibbs Mew was a brewery:
http://www.quaffale.org.uk/php/brewery/135
Bet that sign has either gone in someone's car or at the bottom of the skip.
Too lazy to google Gibs mew that's my problem, ta :PDT11
Mind you, I did have to get out of the car to photograph that.
I'm just annoyed at this council. Why are they flattening all and sundry just to make the place look better? Why not just level everything from the M62 to the City Centre and have done with?
That's it, I'm going to write off to the Echo on this one, it's got me annoyed.

It looked like a decent enough building just to buy, do up and live in, never mind open as a pub, it's a pity. Not far to walk for your next local either, the Cambridge which you can just about see in your photie. That's if it's still open, wasn't it known as VJ's or something the last time?
Do you wanna go halfies on this then?

A Walkers pub in Crosshall Street in 1895. It`s either not open yet or they
are all skint.
By the way I didn`t take this, honest, it`s from a loose leaf out of a book.
