Does anyone have an overhead plan of the 'finished' site - in map or 3D form?

Just been passed and took a few pictures while moving.
Sorry to say it looks exactly like the tower block they demolished as part of the Uni block opposite the Catholic Cathedral on Brownlow Hill :PDT_Xtremez_12:

[QUOTE=Cadfael;82848]Another blot on the landscape which will look dated in 20 years. If they are so confident of the business doing well, why has the likes of a well established firm like Lewis' slap bang in the middle of Liverpool struggling?
QUOTE]
Because it sells cheap rubbish that nobody wants?
Plus Lewis' has not really been 'slap bang in the middle of Liverpool' for years, increasingly isolated once Clayton Square opened and Blackler's closed; an indication, contrary to previous posts, that the 'invisible boundaries' of the City Centre can and do morph over time. The sheer weight of the Paradise Street project will undoubtedly shift the Centre of Gravity southwards, bringing the Albert Dock more and more into play; if only there was a plan to deal better with the barrier that is The Strand.
Oct 23rd 07. building progress.
It's hard to believe it's the same architect (Cesar Pelli) who designed this group in front of the World Trade Center.

Good post. Hit the nail on the head. The city is moving towards the river and dock waterways which will leave Lime St station on the city centre outskirts. Lewis' store will still be in the centre however isolated somewhat. What will save it is having its own entrance into Central underground station.
The Strand has to be done away with when running through the city centre. Inner city urban motorways are not needed - an idea from the 50-60s that still lingers. Cars should be relegated in favour of pedestrians and rail transport.
But!! The idea is to make the centre bigger, not just move its boundaries. The centre may have a number of sub-centres: Hardman St area for pubs/clubs, Matthew St & Albert Dock for the same. Shopping all over really, with a move to Albert Dock/Paradise St
The centre should adopt a triangle shape with the longest side the river/dock waterways.
That largest group of buildings philip is reminiscent of a block of apartments over the la paz nightclub in Praia de rocha on the Algarve. I'll try and find a photo.
MORE big changes are planned to city centre roads to help shoppers get to the new Liverpool One Paradise Street shopping district. continues....

Thanks Kev,I walked around by Hanover Street for the first time in ages yesterday and I couldn't believe how much it's changed.
Three nice pics there Kev.

Well, I've just spent 2 hours walking around The Trafford Centre (it was crap and stunk from the sewage works near by), happy in the knowledge that once the PSD opens, you won't want to go anywhere else!
I was having a drink in the Pumphouse yesterday and you couldn't help but imagine how amazing it's going to look from there. The new tower by Cesar Pelli was looking great and old landmarks like St Johns Beacon, the Graces,The Albert Dock and the Anglican were superb all lit up.Just wait until the new museum/Mann Island blocks are up,it's going to be brilliant.:PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Grosvenor lines up fashion boutiques for Peter's Lane
Grosvenor is in talks with fashion boutique retailer Arrogant Cat to open its first store outside London and the South East at Liverpool One.
A deal to bring Arrogant Cat to a 1,200 sq ft unit in the upmarket Peter's Lane part of Liverpool One is understood to be one of several in solicitors' hands and set to be formally announced in the coming weeks.
Grosvenor recently revealed that the first phase of 70 shops on Paradise Street and South John Street and two department stores will open on May 29, 2008.
The developer is targeting specialist fashion retailers to take the smaller units on Peter's Lane, typically from 600 sq ft to 2,500 sq ft. Peter's Lane will open in September 2008 along with the leisure element of the £950m, 43-acre scheme.
The retail lettings team is also in talks with Reiss for 2,000 sq ft on Peter's Lane, its second outlet in the city. Reiss owns the freehold on its Mathew Street store and will continue trading there.
Handbag retailer Radley is close to signing for Peter's Lane for a standalone store as well as its existing concession in John Lewis.
Talks are also ongoing with a G Star franchisee, the brand currently has concessions in selected Liverpool stores.
The 1.6m sq ft scheme, anchored by John Lewis and Debenhams, is currently 75 per cent let by floor area and Grosvenor expects there to be only half a dozen vacant units by May. These may be held back for retailers that it would like to secure but who may want to see the shops open before deciding.
Letting agents on Liverpool One are Tushingham Moore, Cushman & Wakefield and Strutt & Parker.
All parties declined to comment.
Grosvenor is in advanced talks over the sale of another plot at its Liverpool One retail-led regeneration project.
The sale involves a multi-storey car park with ground floor retail on the corner of Hanover Street and Seel Street along with a surface car park to the rear.
The combined area is around 1.5 acres and the buyer is a developer who will demolish the car park and deliver a mixed-use leisure-led project in its place. Grosvenor expects to announce the deal in the coming few weeks, with the buyer due on site by December 2008.
The site is adjacent to the Novotel hotel being built by Pedersen following a similar sale. The partial disposal programme was always part of Grosvenor's vision for Liverpool One, the company said, and is not a response to the £140m cost over-run announced in the past year.
Grosvenor has also mooted the possibility of selling the so-called Bling Bling Building partly occupied by Herbert of Liverpool, the hairdresser. The Piers Gough-designed building, also on Hanover Street, features 20,000 sq ft over five floors. Herbert occupies two floors and there are three vacant floors of offices above.
In September, Grosvenor confirmed the sale of the 217-bed Hilton Hotel, currently under construction, on the southern edge of Chavasse Park for £60m to Andreas Panayiatou's Ability Group.
I take it that's the existing grotty carpark above where Blacks used to be... I thought that place had been forgotten about.
I can't help noticing that most of the new units down Hanover St - in the BBC and Bling Bling buildings - are still empty. Hopefully businesses are just waiting for the whole project to be more "complete" before they move in anywhere. Hanover St is a bit inaccessible at the mo anyway.

THE big countdown to the opening of Europe’s biggest retail and leisure scheme is to be given a boost this month with the launch of a new nerve centre. Read
Jigsaw, Radley and Fred Perry are the latest signings at Peter’s Lane, the niche fashion district being created by Grosvenor as part of its Liverpool One regeneration project. The three they have taken 5,400 sq ft, 1,580 sq ft and 1,600 sq ft units respectively. All are new to Liverpool and they join Reiss, Ted Baker, Jones and Karen Millen, all of whom have recently committed to Liverpool One.
Flannels, the premium North West-based fashion-led department store, is doubling its representation in Liverpool by taking the anchor store on Peter’s Lane. The store will be the focal point of an arcade-like covered street designed by Sir Jeremy Dixon that will become the destination for aspirational shoppers visiting Liverpool.
Also just signed is G-Star, which has taken a 5,000 sq ft unit on Paradise Street, Liverpool One’s urban fashion and accessories district.
Liverpool One will open in two phases, with the bulk of the retail space trading from May 2008 with the remainder of the retail, plus the scheme's catering offer, opening in September 2008.
FOUR more leading retail names have signed up to join Liverpool One, the £1bn shopping and leisure centre which opens early next year. Read

A steel and glass bridge linking a new shopping development in Liverpool city centre to a multi-storey car park is being lifted into place.
The 150-tonne bridge will link the new John Lewis store in the Liverpool One complex to the nearby Q-Park car park.

Exactly what I thought, knock one down, put another one up!
THE ECHO can today reveal the opening date for the biggest stores at the heart of Liverpool’s new shopping paradise.
Massive John Lewis and Debenhams shops will open their doors to the public in May next year.
Bosses at Grosvenor, the company building the Liverpool One development, also revealed at least another 80 smaller outlets would be open that month, giving 1m sq ft of new shopping space.
In September 2008, a further 600,000 sq ft of shops, plus restaurants, cafes, bars and over 600 homes, offices and a nursery will open.
Then early in 2009, the new Hilton hotel and budget Novotel hotel will start taking their first guests.
In staffing all those new businesses more than 5,000 new jobs will be created and recruitment is well underway at the Shop for Jobs centre at the project’s headquarters on Lord Street.
Almost 2,000 shopfitters will spend Christmas and into the New Year fitting out more than 160 new shops, cafes and restaurants and two hotels across the 43-acre site.
The latest retail unit to be completed is on the corner of Hanover Street and College Lane and it will be home to three shops.
Rod Holmes, Grosvenor project director, said: “The work topping out of another new building at one end of Hanover Street and the erection of the bridge at the other shows the good progress we are making on building what will be the exciting new shopping streets, homes and public spaces that will open in stages during next year as Liverpool One.”
marymurtagh@liverpoolecho.co.uk
When complete, the development, which has a footprint the size of 28 football pitches, will include more than 450 apartments and seven acres of parkland, as well as the shops, bars and leisure outlets.

WHAT a difference £1bn and three years of hard work makes.
Amid the cranes and diggers, the new Liverpool One development is emerging.
This weekend another eye-catching structure will be erected - the steel bridge connecting John Lewis and the multi-storey car park.
It is a far cry from 2004 before building work started - the NCP car park, original Chavasse park and Moat House Hotel have all been consigned to history.
When the last shop is fitted and paving slab laid, planners say the development will look like the computer generated image above.
Turning the Paradise Street project blueprint to reality has taken almost a decade.
Rod Holmes, Grosvenor project director, said: “All this - the assembly of the development area, the planning, public inquiries, design, letting, financing and construction will have been achieved in just nine years, which makes it not just the largest city centre project of its time, but by far the quickest.
“This reflects the urgency of what was deemed necessary to reverse the prospects of the great city of Liverpool.
”Grosvenor's underwriting of the £1bin investment and its commitment to Liverpool have encouraged other investors and businesses to come to Liverpool.
“Even before Liverpool One is complete, the project has helped to change other people's perceptions of the city; and also the way the city now sees itself.”

Operators of the Liverpool One development have promised top standards of cleanliness when it opens
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liver...0252-20237070/
Its amazing to see it develop, the litter I felt wouldn't have been an issue in Liverpool One. I asumed anyway that it would be going for the Trafford Centre style of cleanliness.
I thought that too, ironic eh!
I must say, when the bridge was being put together on the ground, I was sceptical, plain and simple structures usually look better than fancy designs which become an eyesore. But since it's been put in position it looks better.
I'll try and get a photo in the next few days.
@Rodders, did u climb something to get that shot? Great view btw :PDT_Piratz_26:
I didnt even know Colins Bridewell had closed, but it has now re-opened as Jalons Bridewell and is hoping to take advantage of being on the doorstep of the Liverpool One development.
