    Default Anyone know where these roads were?

    Top Road Halewood and Mount Pleasant Garston anyone? I'm thinking Top Road could be Higher Road.

    Thanks for the vote of confidence Kev. On this occasion I don't know !!! I would have thought if any place was once called Mount Pleasant in the Garston area, it would be in the area of Garston Hospital. I've not seen this name on any old maps but that doesn't mean it didn't exist.

    Is Garston Hospital at the top end of Church Road, just before the junction with James St? If so, I think you're correct and it was known as Mount Pleasant. Not 100% sure - just seem to have a distant memory about it.

    I have a 1931 Street Guide it says

    Mount Pleasant ,Church Rd Garston but no mention of Top Rd Halewood

    Default Mount Pleasant Garston

    I've come across an old ( ca 1954) newspaper cutting recording the demolition of Mount Pleasant, Garston. It seems it was sited on the hill behind Kettle Nook next to Garston Hospital. It was the name given to a small group of houses. Hope you can read the text in the attached photo of the newspaper cutting.
