The practice evenings I mentioned were definitely later since I wasn't old enough to drive in 1962...
I presume that these evening led to smaller sports car/saloon races at weekends since the track was fully maintained and signed.
PS - I remember being impressed how tall and wide those Grand National fences are when viewed up close.
