    Default Bus Depot- Kirkdale

Just wondering if anyone has any old photos (and any history/background if possible) of the bus depot that used to be in Kirkdale?
I cant remember the name of the road (possibly Carisbrooke?) - just remember that when we used to visit nans we would walk from the bus stop on County Rd up to Ruskin Street and used to pass this. Was long closed then though I think

There is a bingo there...I didnt want to name it as the paradise in case it has changed names as I have'nt been up that way for a while..
I played pool for The Carisbrooke pub which is right outside and when the Bingo opened we all joined for a laugh...
I'm not sure of the year it opened as a bingo.. but it was years after the bus depot closed...
I'd say its been a bingo hall for about 10 years..give or take a year or 2..
Its an entirely new site now... the old bus depot was completely flattened.

Prior to buses were trams ever there?

I would imagine so? as there was a few Tram sheds dotted over Liverpool,I would think this bus shed served the Norris Green,Fazakerly,Broadway routes.
There was one in green lane too Green Lane.

It was built in 1901 for trams.
    It could hold 186 "cars".

If I remember rightly? the doors to the sheds where on Harlech Street? the canopy was fabricated steel and the foundation walls wasn't very high.

Philip,Green Lane depot opened in 1901,I'm sure Spellow lane came much later?

George, I don't know about Green Lane.
Mike Greatbatch on the OS map reprint says Carisbrooke Road opened in 1901.

Surely, they'd all be built within a few years of the first electric trams in 1898?
    And not "much later".

I always thought that picture was of Warbreck Moor on a race day.
