Default Northern Line Railway Liverpool Development

Does anyone have old pics of the development of the Nothern Line, for example Hunts Cross to Southport?

This is the disused 1829 Wapping Tunnel from Edge Hill to Queens/Kings Docks. The Northern Line tunnel from Brunswick to Central was lowered into the Wapping Tunnel to incline the tunnel downwards to enter Central low level station. Previously the tunnel serviced the ground level station. The Wapping tunnel can still be used by lowering the floor of the tunnel at this point.

Map of the Link tunnel, in blue, that connected the south end Cheshire Lines tunnel to the Mersey Electrics line to Southport. Built in the 1970s. There is two plans to connect Central to Edge via one of the Tunnels: Waterloo or Wapping. Wapping was chosen and work started with the two branch tunnels started and then cancelled.

The old 1886 tunnel from James St to Central is there (see on the map) but only used for shunting. Wirral trains only run around the city centre Loop and back out again. A part of this 1886 tunnel was used for the new Link tunnel linking north and south Liverpool. There is no reason why a route from the Wirral cannot to run to Hunts X or South Parkway using this tunnel. If a link to John Lennon Airport is built then a direct line should definitely be created from the Wirral. Maybe called the Lennon Line. Wrexham were wanting the Bidston-Wrexham Line put on Merseyrail and direct access to the airport, via the centre, when it comes.

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?
