I love that lampost . Frank Green the painter used to sit by the lamp and do his wonderful paintings , the lamp was situated on a bit patch of land once upon a time . Look how beautiful and ornate it is , just beautiful .

That's him , he was around the area for years , painting all the buildings , and the ones that were being knocked down .

He has painted for as long as i can remember , he used to sit out in all weathers , covered up with a huge umbrella in the rain , always studios in his work , but always happy to talk to us kids about what he was doing . We'd crouch on the floor by him and say 'what are you doing today' everyday we'd ask him the same thing , everywhere we went , he seemed to be there . He married my P.E. teacher from Queen of all saints . He is a really nice man , i bet he has some fantastic pictures locked away , waiting to be shown .

I have just bought a signed painting from Frank Green of St Georges church on Heyworth Street / St Domingo Road, if you go into his shop on Oakfield Road you can spend hours just looking around at all the prints in particular of Anfield and Everton.

Talking of Mere Lane, anyone remember the public toilets (Gents) on the corner of Mere Lane and Robson Street ?

I don't think i remember toilets Johnny , i seem to recall railing though , but that might have been the park or the lampost .
