Rigby's also has (or had) the date 1726 on it. The Central Hotel in Ranelagh Street 'carries' the date 1698 (or 1675, or 16 something), but neither they nor the Leather Lane pub are as old as the dates that are on them.
I wouldn't begin to hazard a guess at 'The Oldest Pub in Liverpool'.

it can't be too bad if at the end of the day if the dates arn't right then maybe the ale is a bit fresher
Phil, you'll have to take up the argument about which is the oldest pub with " Mine Host" at The Hole in the Wall !! They certainly advertise they are the oldest pub in Liverpool. Whether true or not I don't know either. However Ranelagh street did not exist in 1726 let alone 1698, so that date is definitely suspect.

Good photo. How did you get them all to pose so well for you
They were all asleep in the winter sun after being fed by the city`s unofficial
pigeon feeders.

Sefton Street carwash. One of the worst paint-jobs I've seen.

Yes, Taffy, I know it's suspect.
As is the date on The Hole in the Wall.
Ranelagh Street certainly existed in the early 1700s and probably earlier, as it was the road to Manchester.
