Well impressed Mart and Sheilsy and well done to Colin for making it in the first place.
Hello Mart! Just watched your film on youtube, Brill ! (I dont think you should have let Ged pull that cart round the streets in his underpants though.
Only kidding Ged, I know they are not your underpants, you borrowed them from Mart !
I have fond memories of Costigans in the Swan. I loved the smell of leather and metal and taking the sterry bottles back for a penny.
Spent many a long time in the library then walking down to the Bon Bon for sweets.
Hi Folks
I don't seriously think the image on this early twentieth century postcard I have just bought on ebay is really of Old Swan but it's interesting nonetheless, paricularly because of the local postmark and address. If anyone knows where the scene might actually be, though, I would be interested to know!
Cheers

Hi Chris, the pic is a Lakeland Castle - NOT Old Swan !
But the address, Tuebrook is around the corner from Old Swan

Hi Mart
While I might be a South Ender I was fairly certain the view on the picture side of the postcard could NOT be Old Swan. Thanks for the tip on the location of the Tuebrook address. Note also that the Edwardian era postmark is Old Swan.
Cheers
Chris

Not sure if anyone answered this one. Knotty Ash terminus was situated on the old part of East Prescot Road prior to its straightening, so this would have been taken from the pavement where the Greyhound roundabout is now, Aldi would be to the right and the Council Office to your immediate left. There were about 10 premises in front of the Mill Yard, one was definitely a sweet shop.
I remember that tram and the buses parked in Green lane way back towards the end of 1970 on my very last trip ( we have a singer called John Farnham when he was going to retire he called his album THE LAST TIME and he's still going same as me my last trip started in feb '70 to Nov '70) to liverpool before I left to come to Rockingham WA as I thought I'd never see Liverpool again I saw it again in 1974 ( for 6 week's) then 1980 for 18 month's
