My nan and grandad used to do that every summer - the whole lot of them decamped to Leasowe and stayed there for the summer when my dad was small (he was born in 1929). They camped for years in an old-style tent like those in your picture. Dad used to tell us about his Mum cooking up full English Breakfasts in one huge Frying pan for about 10 of them. Grandad used to go digging for bait and then bring the fish he caught back to eat. He had some very good memories of camping did my Dad, which he passed on to us. My memories of camping are not so good - 60mph winds straight off the Bay of Biscay when we were in Bordeaux - carbon fibre rods in the tent held up though!!

It's a lovely picture and has brought back so many memories of my Dad and Nan and Grandad for me. ~Thank you.x
