    They're not old pictures.
    They're actually quite new.

The owner of the website link I have posted claims that the buildings in the pictures are old, they certainly look old. I have not gone through every image that is on the weblink, but, alot of the pictures look old to me, but hey! depends upon your definition of old doesnt it?

Photos of old buildings taken recently are not "Old Pictures".
A lot of people will expect to see old pictures if the name of the thread is "Old Pictures".
Having said all that, the site is a commercial one and should be classed as Spam.

How can that be when the site clearly states that the photographs are free for none commercial use? I personally have no connection with the website in question.

    each to their own!
technically they are photographs of old buildings (with some new) I wouldnt call it spam because it is still the Liverpool theme.

In the mid-70s, I was living in Hartington Road when they demolished the church in the 'Ullet Road' picture above. The workies were smashing up everything in sight including the memorial stones so I 'rescued' one, a handsome marble memorial to John Lea, a former mayor of Liverpool. I used it as a coffee table for a while, it travelled with the rest of my gear to London and back- twice- and now lives in my back yard in Chester- possibly the most travelled memorial stone ever?
There's a block of flats on the site now, corner of Brompton Avenue.

    Here it is:

We used to take all that for granted until it is gone and then there is a big void. I lived on the corner of Croxteth Rd and Hartington Rd. I left Liverpool, came back and the church was gone.

When I lived around there, apart for the cars on the roads, it could have been the 1870s. Everything was still the same.

I lived in Brompton Avenue in the late 70s, and could see it from the back of the house (beautiful sandstone walls in all the back gardens in that area).
I actually sat in the park and watched it being demolished.
    And never took any photos!

Why was it demolished? Not sound?

    Just 'redundant', I suppose.
It had been empty for years, so probably had interesting 'visitors'.
