For women, that's the pointy bit.
Spot on, it's the enclosed storage area in the bow. On old ships it was sometimes used as crew accommodation. Cap Kong posted a story about that but it might have been on the sailors website we used before we migrated to Yo.
On modern ships the focsle is used for storing paint (in a paint locker) and mooring ropes when they're not in use. The anchor chain passes through, often via a tube or guide, into the chain locker below.

Ha, me suspicions have been confirmed.

To be honest though, don't really think it matters much. Peoples sexual orientation should be their own affair. There were a couple of soldiers I know, who when they left the Army had a sex change. Served with them too.

Bothers me not in the slightest.
In 13 years in the Merchant Navy I only sailed with two or three who were openly gay - don't know about those who didn't advertise their preferences.
Having sailed witha few guys who also sailed on cruise ships, from what they tell me that is where most gay sailors ended up - though I believe they tended to take hospitality related jobs than actual seaman duties.

Don't surprise me. There seems to be a lot of gays doing cabin crew jobs on the airlines. Wonder why that is.
