[QUOTE=quincyg;136527]all the ones I saw in town had people taking photos of them. they are certainly attracting a lot of attention. I saw a bit of the BBC coverage, was hoping they'd show the Euston one.

Didn't know it was in Euston, trying to get family in London to get a snap of it. Saw this one in Fazakerely Hospital today.

A MINI Superlambanana has been stolen from Liverpool’s Hope Street.

The half-sized Superlambanana was taken from a collection of black Superlambananas decorated as builders.

It was one of five figures with yellow hard hats and fluorescent work jackets sat outside Maghull Developments’ office.

The figures were placed on the street on Saturday morning and people working in the area said it had disappeared by Sunday morning.

The figures are part of Go Superlambananas, a ten-week public art project which has seen 119 replicas placed across the city.

Most of the figures have been placed on plinths for display, but these five were attached directly to the pavement.

A spokesman for Wild in Art who organised Go Superlambananas said: “At the moment, because this is a new project it is attracting a lot of attention.

“An unfortunate side effect of that is that this Superlambanana has disappeared. It would be nice if we could get him back.”

I hope they are ashamed of themselves especially as they will be auctioned for charity when the festival ends. what if it had been one of the schools ones where kids had spent ages decorating them, they'd be gutted.

yet more ammo for the Scousers will nick anything brigade

    Exclamation

If it was bolted to a concrete plinth I doubt it is students that have robbed it. I fear this could be a genuine theft.

Why, they carry bolt cutters to open Newky brown ale bottles?

Sure as eggs is eggs, it'll be in taking pride of place in someone's living room around Canning street and it'll have a wooly hat on.

I'm glad I photographed the 60 that were at Garston on the saturday. at least they were undamaged.

after just 2 days the Wagbag one has it's ear tag missing and the 'ewes water wisely' at the Albert Dock is now missing it's pedals. a couple have had their name cards taken too.

no wonder people give Liverpool a bad name when people can't even respect something that's bringing joy to a lot of people. it makes me so mad.

we are supposed to have CCTV cameras everywhere so hopefully they will show who's shaming the city again.

I need a cuppa to calm down again.

Lamb-napped! Hard-hat wearing superlambananas go missing
    Jun 17 2008
    by Catherine Jones, Liverpool Echo

BOSSES of a Liverpool company have gone bananas after one of their statues was stolen.

The hard hatted Superlambanana vanished from outside Maghull Developments headquarters in Hope Street on Sunday night.

A lot of people weren't too happy when Maghull Developments vandalised Josephine Butler House in advance of planning permission being granted either.

    I think they're all great.

I may even go on a pilgrimage to see them all.

It's nice to see other things in the city, and not just more and more Beatles stuff.

There should be a cartoon series of a mystic Liver bird riding around on a Superlamb banana smiting evil with a flaming sword. That'd be ace...and they could bring back Googie the Liverpool duck as a villain....never trusted him.
