I think you would enjoy the Stanley Dock area Philip. You have the locks at the end of the canal, and I can recommend the the mobile outside the Heritage market they do a big bacon butty and tea. Thats what I had on tuesday after I had taken a few pics then carried on to the Waterloo dock to do a bit of fishing from the wall .

I love sneaking Into that dock to take pics of that clock.

Even easier now as the bad weather has blown off the fences on where I get In.

    I'm a great fan of Greg's Dad.
I was very surprised to learn that he wasn't a professional photographer.
Of course I love his black & white photos, but his colour photos from the early 1960s are extremely rare.
Here's one of New Brighton which makes an old bachelor like me feel very broody.

Sir!!! a Great photo indeed!!!! Must have been around 1961 then. The ship is of the Blue Funnel Line. And what a cute little girl!!!! She reminds me of my little girl.

I did mean the Stanley Dock with ships in it. :-)

Thanks Philip. The little girl in the colour pic is the one on the dock wall a couple of years later. The all sat still for the picture because they are all eating chips. We had no Macdonalds then.

The photo with the ship and little girl in it. The ship is a
Shaw Saville ship, not a Bluey. still a great photo, cheers.

Stanley locks dredged some time back, looking towards Stanley Dock and the tobacco warehouse.

Shaw Saville? Any idea of the name? The funnel looks Blue Funnel and does the wasteline.

3 chimneys at the back belonged to the Clarence Dock power station and were known as the 3 sisters. They were demolished in 1994.
The young lad looks as if he is hanging on to the stern of a barge or narrow boat.
