    Default Liverpool overhead railway

Some CGI footage of the overhead railway, & the Pier Head by Steven Paul Wheeler http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sE1VHJWpMOA
These things take time, Rome wasn't built in a day you know.

Very good, very clever. Gave me a real sense of how it was.

The first moving film of Liverpool and the old St John's church as well, which was demolished shortly after.

I've got a promo dvd of that (with more old footage) which they used for the "big wigs" at the opening ceremony of the Capitol Of Culture.

A Google might bring that up. I know the idea was to have one uniform dimensions from the stanchions. This was largely done, but there were exceptions and many different lengths.

One of my earliest, but very patchy, memories is of my Grandad taking me on the OH railway - I must have been about 3 at the time. I have a vision of it in my head but I'm no longer certain if it's based on reality or pictures I've seen in the intervening years.

A much clearer memory, and one I've probably mentioned here before, is of an old geezer in Rigbys keeping two yanks entertained (and getting free beer from them) by telling them the most outlandish tales of 'old' Liverpool. When the 'Pier Head went all the way to Lime St', and 'When the overhead railway still ran underground'. The entire pub was hanging on his every word, not just the two yanks. We don't seem to see characters of his calibre anymore.
