    Little bit of nonsence for you !, the cathedral was my school church !, I went to Liverpool Girls College on Grove Street ,and I had the honour of singing in the Cathedral in our school choir, it was wonderful....what a fabulous interior and great accustics....for our prize givings we went to the Philharmonic....we were very lucky !, not many people can boast about using these places as school church and hall ...

    I think Crown st.was the very first passenger station in the world! Later,this changed to Lime st. station,as it was more central to the city,and Crown st. was then used for freight.

    Crown St was. The original Edge Hill was second. Both were decommissioned in 1836. Lime St was way after -1836. All the stations on Liverpool-Manchester were 1830.

    Liverpool had abandoned two stations and built the first tunnel under a Metropolis and another, before London had its first station.

    Re; the 1910 pic, double VC hero Noel Chavasse's dad was the boss at the time that picture was taken, I'm pretty sure that's him in the first group behind the crook(crosier) bearer.

    This was to be bigger, the Catholic Cathedral. The largest cathedral in the world. The crypt was built and WW2 got in the way.
