    Default Disgusting

This is absolutely disgusting. The old chapel was the oldest public building in Garston and enquries had been made about getting English Heritage listing.

My mum came rushing in and announced that they were knocking it down, including the school! People were shocked with disgust. How on earth did they get away with that!

Disgusting indeed!!!!! To put this in a cynical light, who'd be surprised if someone in some later era will build a replica as happened with the Cavern.

I'm surprised you say it is the oldest public building in Garston, I would have thought it would have been St Michaels Church.

I'm no expert on Garston's buildings, but is it really St Francis Of Assisi Church that has been demolished?
If so, there are quite a few public buildings older than that, including St Michael's and the Reading Room and the chapel that's now a house.

St Michael's has been on its site from at least the early 13th century. The current building dates from the 1870s. The old Chapel, after which Chapel Rd Garston was named, was built around 1837. Originally it was a methodist Chapel built by George Heald, a local landowner, in memory of his son

Another disgrace. I hate the way Liverpool is getting it's history ripped apart.
Mind you, some people would be happy with a lambanana in its place
    Disgusting.

It's St Francis of Assisi Primary School that's being demolished. The old chapel was a later add on to the main school building which was itself was built in the mid 1890s. The attached photo shows the old chapel , the brick main school building and the tower of St Francis Church in the background. The chapel has not been used as such for well over 100 years. In recent years, the main use for the building was as a gym and dining hall, with a preschool club in the basement
