Thanks, Oudeis and Kev. Yes my guess is Eastham too, as Eastham would be further south and nearer the oil refinery on the Cheshire side of the Manchester Ship Canal. Incidentally, when I was a lad I was shown kindness by a clergyman at Eastham parish church. Knowing that I was interested in history, he brought out the old parish registers to show me, so I have fond memories of visiting there.
