Me too - went dancing every lunch hour and then bombed back to work late!! Tiffany's played some good funk and soul in the lunch hour.
Was Tiffany's actually in India buildings and you used the lightwell staircase at the side (Brunswick St?) to get in?
Yes you could get in that way. It was underneath India Buildings.
He he - I worked there in the old basement room years after the club shut. Its empty again and last I heard a club owner may be interested - Tiffany's 2???
When Livo's (Livingstones, Stanley Street) closed down, we all migrated to The Maderin in Victoria Street. Also I used to like the Gingerbread in Stanley Street, again the days before a late licence.
i drank in wilsons it was my downtown local . checkamates was the 1st club i went 2 it was next door 2 and part of chequers. then there was cagneys roxy bowie nights and planet x but my fave venue was michelle claires dingy basement club with occasional rockabilly gang fights thrown in . the gorgeous mandy was one of the dj's red haired bowie fan from the band zale out her boyfirend was phil jones from afraid of mice later the legendery jones 's goodtimes 1980 . later on mid 80's the heavey metal thing was when i went 2 wilsons and the crazy house regularly and again lovely goth barmaid cant remember her name too much alcohol obviously
Phil Jones is still going strong. Went to see the duo as 'Afraid of Mice' on the Star & Garter that was built into St. Johns precinct in 81, they later became two's a crowd. He's on the old Pen & Wig every sat now, sometimes on the First National too. Another place I used to go was the Mayflower in Fazakerly st, a local of mine with living off Dale st but marred sometimes by the fights between the vauxhall lads and the 'kirkby's'.
This is a boss thread.
Tiffany's - my dad worked on the door there when I was a kid and I remember going there loads of times in the day as well as to parties.
I drank in the Wilsons which had the best jukebox anywhere at the time but I was late 87 onwards. Some great bands in there - Engine, Roadhouse etc
The Goth Barmaid was Kerry - she was seeing my mate at the time
Shankly's, Bunters, Earl St Johns/Rockfords and Gatsby's where all owned by the same people (also had the Coconut grove and Alinsons in Bootle
