Yes, it is pretty grim there.
Out of all the cinema sites in Liverpool, that's about the only one where I've felt uneasy taking photos.
And that was even before the murder that took place in that building.
A lot of hoardings have gone up, so something is going to happen in that area.
Hi All
Connections to Robson Street, Everton, and to an old Liverpool theatre now long gone, I believe. And a little mystery that perhaps some of the sleuths on the forum, e.g., Samp and Ged, might help me solve. Thanks in advance.
I have just bought a postcard on ebay that appears to have connections both to Robson Street, Everton, and to someone in the theatre named Sophy Lawson who in February 1908 was working at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Liverpool. It looks as if Miss Lawson sent the card from the Hippodrome to a Mrs Lawson.... possibly an aunt (???) since the salutation is to "Dear Mrs L" which seems unlikely if the older woman was her mother..... at 62 Robson Street, Everton.
Mrs Lawson sent the card back to Miss Lawson readdressedto the Empire Theatre, Cardiff also answering a question, I am interpreting that Lillie whom Ms L asked about was in "Sunny Spain" if I am interpreting things right. Or could the annotation be that Sophy was in the "Sunny Spain Co[mpany]" touring round Britain? Naturally I am curious to more about the Lawson family and whether Sophy Lawson was a performer or else someone who worked backstage in the theatre. . . . Also if the house might be still there or if it will have been swept away in the redevelopment of the Everton area.
