Hi with my job I travel around most parts of Liverpool and would gladly take the now shot,
Great pic's Jimmy! County rd,and Everton valley are still quite recognisable, but Everton brow/Netherfield rd,look like another place, but I suppose they are now !!
Here are a few pic's, that maybe someone can do something with,or just view!
Pic's courtesy of L.R.O. and others unknown.(waits for it.....!!)
I believe that it had been fire bombed during the war.

becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
how it once was?

Half of em are still there, boxed in by the new signs. I think its down to laziness these days ie the shopowners can't be arsed pulling em out, they did two things saved joe public getting drenched and kept the sun out of the window displays. What I miss is the old shop front. The awnings were superb giving great atmosphere. Modern shop fronts are absolutely awful. Cheap and nasty. They have no idea how to attract people.
