Hey guys, thanks for your comments!
I've been here for two weeks now... settling in nicely. I like B'head, though I was out in Liverpool last Friday and whenever I mentioned where I'm staying, people tended to put their noses up, . I guess Birkenhead has a reputation. Anyways, I like it. I'm right near Hamilton Square and have been around on foot and on the trains quite a bit. I have lots of time to fill during the weekdays, so always looking for something new to do.
As of now, I'm planning on staying until the end of January. Depends on how long the lady can put up with me. So far so good. If the electrician comes to fix the stove (hob) this morning, I may get out to take a photo today!
Hamilton square/town hall area, has some good Georgian buildings, though I think, more than a couple were vacant?
yeah, it's a really nice area. Not sure what "Georgian" means, though I've heard the term quite a bit. Was that the style of architecture under one of the Kings George?
The town hall, incidentally, hosts a movie night once a week for the Birkenhead Cinema Club. Really nice place to take in a film. We saw "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" this past Tuesday. Next Thurs, they're showing a French film.
Take a walk down to the Pacifc Road Arts Center, they have some great bands on .

Indeed! We do enjoy our independence, that was quite nice of y'all. We thank you every July 4th with a nice fireworks show
Thanks also for the info on George III, is he the same that went slightly mad and believed that England would be swallowed up by the sea? Perhaps he discovered global warming centuries before Al Gore.
