Well, that's very odd, as those three pictures of Clayton Square have only been published on this forum and then only two weeks ago- the thread is here- http://www.yoliverpool.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9129.
So what's with the "CD of pics off eBay"?
Be reassured, I'm not objecting to you posting them! I'm just rather gobsmacked and would really like to get to the bottom of this. You presumably paid for this CD and it includes, apparently, some of my images. So some beggar's making money from my work and I'd quite like to find out who it is. Can you send me a PM with a contact for who you bought it off?
Sharing among fellow enthusiasts is one thing, piracy is quite another.

Were the pics ever on your cracking website Steve?
Ha ha - just what he wanted to hear Zaps.
My family came from Dominic Close just other side of the railway track and everyone either annoyed the 'cocky watchman' or tried to float themselves on Jackson's Pond.
Here's the view today from the Railway Bridge looking down Childwall Valley Road (school would have been on your left)
Ha! The Catharine St one is lifted from my site here http://canning.merseyworld.com/ritz.htm. I don't claim copyright of course, it's an LRO picture, photocopied by me then scanned and given a tacky vignette effect. Well, it was a long time ago when the web was young!
I had no idea people sold such things on eBay!

I'm not very well up on this copyright stuff not being a photographer but the minute you post one of your pics on the net they are open to "open slather" , the bit to be grateful for is they are being used for 'honest interest' not dishonest means, unless as stated previous they have been bought , can the source be imprinted on the bottom of the pic to protect? if its a big deal or encoded with a non copy program like some of the pics on national daily websites.
Unless the photographer puts a "watermark" on the photo, it's a fact that anybody can copy them (which is fair enough) and then reproduce them without asking permission (which is not on).
After seeing some of my older photos on other sites, and being told about yet more sites that they're on, I've stopped posting older photos, at least until I sort out a "watermarking" system.
Why is it that people who say things like "Publish and be D.amned" never seem to post photos?
Is it worth pursueing or ethical if there has been no monetary gain other than to spread the word that they are good pics of a great place?, however if somebody is exploiting it for gain, I would understand
Indeed. Having the good manners to name their source, thus sending those wishing to know more to the owner's book or website, rather than just hoovering up every image they can find for profit.
If it results in more visitors to the websites, I've amost always been happy to grant permission if people are straight with me.
