Hi folks!
Just been on the internet, trying in vain to find the location of the fabled 'Bootle well'. does anyone have a clue where it was, and is there still any evidence of it's existence today?
Ta!

Hi Wal
seen your stuff on Flickr
I've found this bit mentioning the well but not it's location.
sadly I don't have any of my late grandads maps, as he worked for the Corpy water dept. might be worth asking in Linacre One ( I think it's called) on Linacre Rd. it's got local photos in the window.
Proud Scouser, with a dabbling of Welsh and Irish.
bore yourself silly at my Flickr page...anorak central!
No mention of it that I can find in the book 'Bootle and Orrell' by Peter W. Woolley.
The well is situated on the premises of Bruce and Hyslop on Well lane, just off Park St in Bootle
My late husband used to work there many years ago and I remember him telling me about it.
Thanks for all your feedback, folks.
I was brought up around the Springwell rd area, and mistakenly made the assumption that that was how the road got it's name!
Glad to see that the photies on flickr have been noticed. I intend to add some more in the future, cos somewhere in my mum's there are some black and white negs of the original Johnson's frontage and tower and also some of the original penny bridge over the cut, but it's finding the buggers that's the problem. Sadly, i didn't get any of the original two storey St Elizabeths primary school that i attended as a nipper. Anyone out there that did?
