    You know I had to go back and look at the picture because I missed the women washing her step.

    I don't think anyone would get on their knees nowadays - there are more important things than clean steps. Anyway I've got one of those power washers - brings the path up like new!

    Yes, women did insist on keeping their bush trimmed. I do know some women who continue being on their hands and knees though i'm not too sure if was to keep the doorstep scrubbed.

    I don't Spike unfortunately, it never said. I wonder if it's still there, notice the patio doors leading out onto the balcony. How the posh snobs of the Swan lived ey, I have pics on my site of the same year with people in damp squalid courts.

    The shop/house in Fitzgerald Rd was owned by Pop Hewitt and his son John
    when I lived in the the Prefabs off Wharncliffe Road I left in 1961.My friend
    Mike Healy lived Opposite, Alan Dennett lived 5 doors away,and a couple of friends lived in Orleans Road. There was another shop further up Ravenswood towards Derby Lane this was Salts chippy.At the bottom of Sunbeam another shop was called Postuma's.

    The shop at the bottom of Sunbeam stood empty for years. About two years ago it had its front rebuilt and is now a house.

    I knew Alan Dennet from when I lived in Fitzgerald Rd although he was older than me. But the Mike Healy got me thinking ...
    Mike is a friend of mine's Dad, I'm going to send her this link so her dad can see the pic / thread as he doesn't have a computer.
