Default A 'drop' of rain in Childwall

Childwall Valley Road 'under the bridge' has always been known to flood slightly and the road was filled 'up' about 40 years ago so there was less of a dip as you go under the bridge.

Today, after the drop of rain that we had, it resembled the once running Childwall Brook which ran at the very same spot!

The second pic looks quite pretty like a nice park lake.

Thanks, Cadfael. Isn't the point that the water that rose up is the Childwall Brook that has been channelized and diverted underground? I know when it rained while I was living with my grandparents on Aigburth Hall Avenue, the bottom of the garden would always flood, and I used to think it was "Solomon's Vaults" reappearing. I wrote a poem about myself and a mate of mine digging to find Solomon's Vaults. I'll put it in the "creative" area.

That's exactly my view on the situation. I don't believe that it was water that had just collected (although it may have contributed) but there was a good 'fountain' coming out of a grid under the bridge and my guess is that the brook was swollen enough to come to the surface. When the bridge was built, they were told what they were building on but didn't listen...

Incredible pictures. We didn't get a drop in Chester, just a lot of rumbling thunder.
Chris, I was chatting with my daughter in Fairfax today. She said they've had rain for days on end and flooding. How's things with you?

    Hi Steve

Yes indeed it has been a nasty wet and windy day here in the Washington D.C. - Baltimore area with a lot of flooding. It might be a bit dodgy for me getting into work in the morning on the MARC train going from Baltimore to D.C. with the streams and rivers being swollen.
