This is a great place for a stroll with many of the old warehouses as was.

Ohhh! I used to work as a YTS for a firm in Jamaica Street in 1985/86. Thanks for the pictures, Ged.

You're welcome ADW. When I left school at 15 with still a few months before I could officially start work (and no, it wasn't the 30s or 40s )

Me and a couple of mates walked the length and breadth of that area asking in the warehouses if there was any work going. One started work in Bogan's carpets in New Bird st, another is Joseph Lambs Ships chandlers and I got a job in a garage but not in that area - none were by asking that day though, but via the careers office under Fonney Oy gardens. The good old Youth training scheme (YTS) or was it WEP - work experience programme, which I think it was called back in 1978.

Make the most of it Ged, I heard Friday night it is all coming down in that area. I think it is Urban Splash, knocking down most of Baltic Triangle, and building (wait for it) Luxury Apartments, restaurants and bars I have a good source for the info?

Aren't Urban Spplash famous though for converting old warehouses and the like too - the back of Manchester st, Preston St etc.

It's a shame that Cornhill House was demolished for new nondescript 'apartments' but they do all seem to be taken.

We always park the motor around here when shopping in town. Like an almost forgotten part of Liverpool.
