Default Local lorries and vans in the 1950/60s

Does anyone have any pics of these vehicles such as W.Costigan, Waterworths, Schofields, Scotts and local hauliers of the time.
Also if anyone can remember what colours these vehicles were painted.
    Any help please.

There are some on my site, usually just by coincidence in the street scenes.

Martindale were dark blue. I "think" Melias were cream.

I am not sure but I think they were blue and white! On the door was a head in full indian headress.

Also another firm who delivered beer, called Armstrongs had an open back wagon with a rigid tailboard which displayed an arm clutching a dagger on the back.

I was interested to read about lorries with a figure in full Indian headdress. It sounds very much like vehicles built by 'Guy.' I am a huge fan of buses and know that Guy also made lorries. I saw a Guy Arab bus at a show in Essex last week and just happened to take a photo of the mascot. I shall post a photo of it here and perhaps it will jog the memory of the original poster. I think that it might originally have had a brassy effect and that the colours were added later.

Just asked my father about Blacklers vehicles - he was Mrs Blacklers Godson and he seems to remember them being predominantly green with either some yellow or some black.

    Hope this is of help
