    Default new trees for old

Trees being planted in front of the buildings at the Pier Head replacing the ones that were there before the building work started .

Anybody know what species the new ones are? There was some talk when the old ones were felled that, being a Canadian species- a tribute to the Canadian troops who passed through here- they were not thriving in the Pier Head's salt air and would have had to be replaced anyway.
The replacements are of a good size I note and should soon look very nice when they come into leaf. Let's just hope the knobhead vandals don't get to them first.

Nice to see them back. Like you, I remember the council saying that the original Canadian ones didn't thrive there but I can't remember if they said what ones they would use instead.

I seem to remember that the new Maple Trees are to be from Norway.
