Great shots keep em coming, just wish i could show more of my collection.
Wonderful photos.
It makes on wonder, doesn't it, how a policy of continuous and unremitting improvements results in one ending up with something that is a lot worse than it used to be when one started. Sic transit gloria mundi.

Brilliant. The Graces dominating all else, a scene of elegance and harmony. I know there's some on this forum who love the speculator's tower blocks and bang on about "today's much improved skyline" but I really can't see it myself.

The skyline is superb..and getting better. Some of the buildings are real class...superb modern architecture in every way.
Roll on the King Eddies Tower and the Shanghai Tower in the middle of Princes Half-Tide Dock
A pity the Brunswick Quay Tower was not built, the skyline would be even better.
We can't live in the 19th century.
Liverpool needs a firm conservation policy to protect the best of our architectural and historic buildings. People are quick to needlessly condemn top quality modern buildings while our best buildings are falling down around us. We need to encourage good buildings that make the city evolve. Turning down the Brunswick Quay Tower doesn't do that.

"Such Power Exists?"
My old street,Reading St in Kirkdale in 1953 at the time of the Coronation Parties. The street was divided into 3 blocks, top middle and bottom, this is the top block`s party, there was 2 more parties going on at the same time.
The shop on the corner was Sykes bakery shop later taken over by Scott`s bakery. The advertising hoardings on the right are standing on a bomb site from W W 2.
Notice all the different chairs from the houses,I hope they all got the their right chairs back.

Great pic GD. I thought you were playing Barrymore's strike it lucky there with your top, middle and bottom - any hot spots around there
Howcome they demolished the overheard railway? That would of been cool to look at.
My dad remembers them since he's 64 and lived In the city but my mum was grew up In a convent with nuns around Woolton and Speke so she never seen them.
Gididi Gididi Goo.
Maintenance costs by all accounts.
It may be easy to get all romanticised about whether it'd be great these days as those docks are not lined with wonderful vessels anymore and the way the tourist industry was here in the 1970s and 80s with the council not cashing in onthe Beatles (and those people go on to see other sights)
These days, one of those where the carriages hang below the monorail or a tilting train running from the airport to Southport along the front would be imaginitive if marketed properly.
