    Default Haunted Brookside Close?

Brookside ghosts are too real life

Mar 25 2008 by Thomas Martin, Liverpool Echo

THE cast of a new Brit horror movie being filmed on the Liverpool set of soap Brookside today claimed the infamous close is haunted.

Stars of gorefest movie Salvage said they have been terrified by paranormal activity on the cul-de-sac fictional soap madman Trevor Jordache was buried.

Now the actors have dubbed the set “Spookside”.

Director Lawrence Gough’s film sees residents trapped in “The Close” by military snipers hunting a suspected terrorist.

The plot turns into a bloodfest as something more sinister starts to wreak murderous havoc.

Actor Shaun Dooley, 33, who plays main character Kieran, said: “There’s been some strange things going on and the cast are convinced this street is haunted.

    “We’ve dubbed it Spookside.

“At certain times of the day – the lights flicker out and photographs have gone missing from the set.

“And we haven’t been able to shoot the final scene in the woods because every time we approach the set dark clouds appear and gale force winds blow up.

“It’s as if the ghosts of Brookside Close don’t want us to be filming here and it’s freaking people out.”

No less than 72 characters were killed off during the Liverpool soap’s 21-year history.

Director Laurence Gough, 37, believes the close is the perfect set for a horror movie.

He said: “When we heard Brookside Close was available I thought it was an absolute must.

“The whole film is about turning a respectable street upside down and this was the ideal place for us. It’s a great set for a horror movie.”

The £250,000 film due out in autumn has been promised a glitzy premiere in Liverpool as part of the Capital of Culture programme.

Call in Derek Acorah and he'll find out if there are any 'evil' ghosts of fictional characters, especially as fiction is how he makes his money.

I went to investigate this last night.
Using the ninja skills I learnt from playing ‘Revenge of Shinobi’ on the Sega Megadrive I crept into the old Brookside/new file Salvage set. Armed with a homemade PKE meter I constructed from a Bran Flakes box and a coat hanger (and from watching Ghostbusters DVD on slow frame), and a matchbox containing Derek Acorah’s discarded hair and fingernails I roamed all areas of the set.
If there were any ghosts then Mr Acorah’s astral form would have whooshed (wheeeee…..) from the matchbox and confronted them. This wouldn’t have broken his TV contact as astral forms aren’t recognised in a court of LAW….so old Derek can continue to entertain housewives and ghost love people.

This is proof that the Brookside ghost story is blah blah for some media attention and the Echo must have had a slow news day

It was ace!!! Made me the man I am today. I am now fight no longer afraid of an armoured samurai that goes from blue to red if you hit him enough times.

I might have a play of it on a Megadrive emulator later, if there's no evil ghosts to inverstigate, or laundry to do and potatoes to peel.

I feel that I could become a TV ghost hunting celeb. A mix between our own Derek Acorah and David Dickinson (a man Charlie Brooker describes as looking like an 'ageing Thundercat' )

I drove past there last night in the hope of seeing a ghost at last. I heard the sound of a screeching banshee being carried in the wind over the rooftops towards Canny Farm. Then I saw it, no banshee at all, it was Yvette Fielding rehearsing for an episode of most haunted.

All this ghost talk has made inspiration flow through me.

I used to live on Brookside close,
With my best mate Terry, the scouser ghost.
With his curly hair and big moustache,
He arrived one day with an almighty splash.

Cos I was drinking a cup of tea,
He just appeared and startled me.
'Calm down, calm down' is what he said,
My friend who was back from the dead.

So here we are, just scaring others,
We're like a pair of spooky brothers.
So if you are filming on Brookside Close,
Beware of Terry, the scouser Ghost.

Ay up, alright - it's Barry Grant,
howzya Tez - a brooky rant,
all the people killed on this close,
we surely must have some more ghosts.

There's Gavin, who was Petra's hubby,
I bet Trev Jordache is soiled and grubby,
Harry Cross, arrr Old Bill Dean,
    and Sinbad with his windowlene.

    Hangonamo - Sinbad's not dead,
    he's now on Corrie - a pizza-head,
must leave yez now cos Sizzlers here
and Tommy McArdle with some gear.

Wow weee Mr Ged you're poem is a good un. I think you must also be a muiscian as that could go to the beat of the Enland (or it could be a Liverpool song) that had John Barnes singing on it.

    What a tune that was
