BT - Payment processing fee.

I've just received my phone bill and BT are charging £4.50 for a "Payment processing fee".
What the **** is that?
I'm blazing, and don't see why I should pay it.
If my d*mn landline would work while my PC's plugged in I'd phone up and cancel with BT.

I will anyway, so I'd love to hear what good deals there are out there.
I don't even want my line rental off BT.
Is that possible?

If you pay by cheque rather than direct debit then sometimes they charge for this.

This is a classic example of a firm not thinking before they do something. Every other utility gives a discount for paying by direct debit. BT do the opposite, they take the discounted price as the norm, and add a penalty for paying by other means.

I'm sure I'm not the only person to be antagonised by BT.
The bill came this morning (the 8th), and it has to be paid by the 16th, before they charge another penalty!

Please folks, can I change my line rental as well as my Broadband provider?
The Broadband alone is £63.80 for 3 months!

Virginmedia do the same.Watchdog put a letter on their site for you to send in.
I did it and got nowhere.I said am not paying a fiver for nothing.They told me I had too.It p&&£ses me off!!
