Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?

    OK, Lime Street Station,

    8F on special, 23 June 1968
    Black 5 45110 on "15 Guinea Special" 11 August 1968
    Also
45110 passing Edge Hill returning with the special
and running light engine into the evening, and the end of BR steam!
Sorry for the images, but the film is very faded now.

Sirob and Merseywail, thanks to you both for posting all of these precious photos. They belong to us all now.

Sirob, you say the film is faded, but all hope is not lost....this is my corrected version of your most recent Black 5 photo, even working from your posted version the improvement is dramatic, and I'm no Photoshop expert. Given access to the original slides / prints or negs, a professional could probably pull a surprising amount of detail back from the murk. Hang on to the originals!
